    Rollerblading at Marymoor Park

I just got back from Rollerblading at Marymoor Park. It was a perfect day to be outside.

Unlike last week end, I did not suffer any concussions this time around. Just a minor bruise from one fall! One fall for a Rollerblading newbie like myself is really not bad at all.

Anyways, it was a great week end. I am off to the Cheesecake Factory for some grub.

    Peace Out!

Slammed By An Office SDE And A Windows SDE/T

So a bunch of us went Go Kart Racing on Saturday night. I had never Go Kart raced in my life, but I didn't think it would be too bad. Little did I know that:

    • The steering wheel is much HARDER on a go kart than on a regular car .
    • Turning is hard as crap .
    • Wes and Adil rear ended me into the wall, BACK TO BACK!
    • Ramola tackled me as well. It didn't hurt as much.
    • Now I feel Hockey players' pain when they get body checked.
    • I might have sustained a minor concussion.
    • I will never Go Karting again!
    • Apparently, the Windows team goes clubbing...
    • I ROCK at pool. Jerome stinks. Wes, bring it on .

    Peace Out!

    A Tourist In Seattle

I have finally made it to downtown Seattle... for the second time in 6 months . Today was BEAUTIFUL and downtown was booming with people. I think I even saw the sun peep out!

I have added a few pictures in my photo album if you are curious. Enjoy!

    Peace Out!

    First Seattle Impressions

Moving to a new city is always exciting. Exciting and weird at the same time: new people, new habits, new places... Anyways, here are some first Seattle impressions:

    • Meeting a few Microsoft devs who:
      • Did not know how to subscribe to a Blog.
      • Did not know there were MSDN Blogs.
      • Did not know there was a JobsBlog, Channel 9 or who Scoble was.
      • It really helps put things in perspective, so thanks guys .
    • The umbrellas at the Redmond Town Center :
      • Where I come from, if you put a few umbrellas out on the street in the morning, don't expect to find them there in the afternoon.
    • Being called an "alien":
      • Come on, isn't Canada the 51st state? I hadn't been referred to as an "alien" since College!
    • Meeting new and interesting people is always fun, even though I am shy and introverted at first :
      • I am looking forward to signing up to several MS lists (I am guessing MS has employee lists of some sort):
        • Canadians at MS
        • Quebecois at MS
        • Hokies at MS
        • French is our mother tongue and we have a funny accent at MS
        • Tennis players at MS
        • You get the general idea...
    • Rain, rain, rain...

    Peace Out!

    Seriously?

I did not realize I was going to have to re-test to obtain a driver's license in Seattle. That's a bit wack if you ask me . Granted the parking spots are REALLY TINY, people drive a bit slowly and they have those weird bumps on the road as lane delimiters, the rest is pretty much the same.

But according to the DMV website, I (and non Washingtonians) have to:

    1. Qualify on the vision test and medical screening.
    2. Pass the knowledge (written) portion of the examination (if you are bored, you can take the test here ).

I can live with that. Now here is the confusing part for me:

You will not normally be required to take a drive test. Please note: Former Canadian residents are required to take both the knowledge and the driving tests. Washington State does not have any driver licensing reciprocity agreements with other countries.

I am a Canadian citizen, but I obtained my driver's license in the US while attending College, although I traded it for a Canadian license when I came back to Ottawa. Does that mean I don't have to take the driving test? I really hope so !
